Tampa Child Support Modification Attorney
Either party can petition the court to alter child support or alimony orders. The other party must respond within a certain period to contest the modification. If the parties cannot come to agreement out of court, a judge will hear arguments in a modification hearing and approve or deny the request.
Modifying child support or alimony up or down, or requesting a suspension or termination of support obligations, requires a substantial change in circumstances:
- Layoff, reduced hours, loss of benefits

- New special needs of the child
